SIOUX FALLS, SD (March 15, 2012) – Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Dakota announced today that it has received a Brand Excellence Award from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). The annual awards honor Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies that excel in developing and enhancing the overall Blue Cross and Blue Shield brand image.

Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Dakota is being recognized with a Brand Excellence Award in the Enrollment Growth category for having the highest percentage of new members enrolled over the past year among Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies.
“The Brand Excellence Award reflects the commitment of Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Dakota to providing superior service and products to its members, providers and the marketplace,” said George Hanna, Wellmark executive vice president. “We accept this national award with high honor as it reinforces our customer satisfaction rate as we continue to build upon our solid member base of approximately 300,000 residents in South Dakota.”
This marks the 17th year BCBSA presented the Brand Excellence Awards to recognize Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies nationwide in categories that promote the Blue Brands including attracting new customers, fostering loyalty to existing customers, and Brand innovation.
This marks the third Brand Excellence Award for Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
