3-pointers by SDSU raise more than $10,000

Brookings residents will benefit from funds raised through Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s 3-Point Play with the South Dakota State University.

With the Wellmark 3-Point Play, Wellmark makes a donation for each field goal during the Jacks’  2010 football season, and each three-point basket during both the men’s and women’s 2010-2011 basketball seasons to the Brookings Parks and Recreation Department. To date, more than $10,000 has been raised. The final amount will be determined at the end of the basketball season.

3-point Play supports active, vibrant communities

Philip Davis, Wellmark of South Dakota president and chief operating officer, notes the 3-Point Play fits Wellmark’s mission of supporting active and vibrant communities.

“Our goal is to help South Dakotans lead healthier lives by supporting community health and wellness initiatives,” he says. The Wellmark 3-Point Play helps support projects that might not otherwise be funded.”
