Regional Health and Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield have reached a mutually beneficial, five-year agreement that covers both Spearfish Regional Hospital and Rapid City Regional Hospital. The agreement means that Wellmark members in this region will have in-network coverage at Spearfish Regional Hospital, and will continue to have in-network coverage for services at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
“We are pleased to have reached an arrangement with Regional Health to serve our members in the Rapid City and Spearfish area. We look forward to a continued long-term relationship,” said John Forsyth, Chairman and CEO, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
“We have worked diligently to reach this agreement with Wellmark,” said Joe Sluka, Regional Health Chief Administrative Officer. “With this new contract, Blue Cross and Blue Shield policy holders now have coverage at all the Regional Hospitals, which is a ‘win’ for all concerned.”
This agreement for both hospitals includes the following Wellmark products and plans:
Indemnity Products:
Comprehensive Major Medical, Blue Traditions, Classic Blue®, Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEP), and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Out-of-Area Program (BlueCard®).
Preferred Provider Organization Products:
Blue Select®, Select First®, Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEP), and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Out-of-Area Program (BlueCard PPO®).
Also included is the Select First network available to the third-party administrator plans offered employer groups through Wellmark’s subsidiary, First Administrators, Inc.
