No Pre-existing Health Condition Exclusions

While there are many provisions in the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a few will have more significant impact on how insurers and employers offer coverage.

Pre-existing health conditions

Currently, health plans can’t deny coverage to children under the age of 19 due to pre-existing health conditions. Beginning in 2014, that requirement will apply regardless of age, gender or health. Under the ACA, pre-existing conditions will no longer be a factor in a person’s ability to purchase a policy.

What does this mean to you?

No one will be denied health insurance or charged more because of a medical condition. This means you’ll have peace of mind knowing you can get the care you need when you need it most.
